From the present, and hotly debated geological "Antropocene", what Patagonia offers in addition to experiencing nature in its finest in the present is a step back in time. Through the Holocene epoch, we are transported back through all the Cenozoic, where we hit the Mesozoic - and those names that everyone recognises (not just geologists): The Cretaceous, The Jurassic and The Triassic.
As I write this, the ferocious winds the Southern Cone is known for scatter sand outside on the beach - it stings the eyes and  and exfoliates the skin unintentionally , and perhaps that is why the discoveries here are rare but when they happen are truly spectacular - the climate in Patagonia is as inhospitable as it is inaccesible from the rest of our world. A world of history lays hidden in this part of the world, hidden beneath the Patagonian steppe. And the extremely well curated Museum of Palaeontology in Trelew offers us just a glimpse of that.
